Configuration

From Voluminous Energy

Voluminous Energy is configured with TOML files in the config folder of your Minecraft instance (on a server, the server's config folder). The files are created with their default values the first time the game starts with the mod installed. You can edit them in any text editor while the game is closed.

Kinds of config file

  • Common (Forge, up to 1.20.4): voluminousenergy-common.toml. Loaded on both the client and the server.
  • Startup (NeoForge, 1.21.1 and later): voluminousenergy/voluminousenergy-startup.toml. Read once when the game starts, so changes need a restart. It is not sent from a server to its players, so on a multiplayer server everyone should use the same values for anything shown in the client, such as tank capacities.
  • Client (NeoForge, 1.21.1 and later): voluminousenergy/voluminousenergy-client.toml. Display options only.

Reading a config file

Settings are grouped into sections. Names that contain spaces are written in quotes. For example, the Crusher's settings in 0.5 look like this:

[Crusher]
#Maximum power for the Crusher to store
	#Range: 0 ~ 2147483647
	"Maximum Power" = 5000
#Power consumption per tick for the Crusher
	#Range: 0 ~ 2147483647
	"Power Consumption" = 40
#Power I/O per tick for the Crusher
	#Range: 0 ~ 2147483647
	"Maximum Transfer" = 1000

Lines starting with # are comments that the mod writes for you. Values outside the allowed range are reset to the default when the game loads the file.

World generation

Up to 1.18.2, ore, deposit, oil and rice generation is set in the config file. From 1.19 onwards it is defined in datapack JSON files instead, so only a few world generation options remain in the config. See Feature generation for the generation data of each version.
