Feature generation
Voluminous Energy will generate various features in your world. These features include: geysers, lakes, ore blobs, deposits, and plants.
Feature generation by version
Due to Configured Features and Placed Features being reworked several times in Minecraft over Voluminous Energy's existence, the exact configurations and balancing are not consistent between Minecraft versions, even if they're from the same train (ex 0.3). Therefore, for the most accurate information, please see the subpages for the specific Minecraft version and train that you are playing:
- 1.19.3 (Covers 1.19.3 (0.3 and 0.4), 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1)
- 1.19 (Covers 1.19, 1.19.1, 1.19.2 for 0.3 and 0.4)
- 1.18.2-0.3
- 1.18.1-0.3
- 1.17.1-0.2 (includes 1.18-0.2)
- 1.16.5 and earlier
Crude Oil features
Crude Oil is a common raw liquid fuel available in Voluminous Energy. Crude Oil features include large Crude Oil geysers and Crude Oil lakes. Lakes spawn both on the surface and underground, which count as two different placement types in 1.18+ to ensure they spawn somewhat commonly on the surface.
Ore features
Voluminous Energy introduces key resources that must be typically mined from the ground. This includes:
Ore resources are available through a few different types of features available in the world. The most conventional is ore blobs, but Voluminous Energy also adds a new kind of feature called Ore Deposits which are rich in ore resources but spawn far less frequently than ore blobs.
Ore blobs
An ore blob is a clustering of an ore block combined into a feature for world generation. Veins are not features and are part of the chunk generator and were introduced in 1.17.1.
Like vanilla, Voluminous Energy has ore blob features as a way to get ore resources in the world.
Ore deposits
Ore deposits are substantial groupings of an ore resource. The centre of an ore deposit will contain no stone and contain the raw block of the resource. The outside of the deposit usually contains the regular ore block as the world transitions to stone. If exposed to air, the ore blocks may not spawn but the raw blocks will.
