The Battery Box is an energy storage block that can either charge batteries from the grid or discharge batteries into it.
This page describes Voluminous Energy 0.5 (Alpha 2, for 1.21.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2). All numbers are the default values from the startup config and can be changed there.
Usage
Put a battery (or any other item that holds Forge Energy) in the top slot. Normally the Battery Box charges the item from its own storage. When the Battery Box is set to send out power, it does the opposite: it drains the item into its storage and supplies adjacent blocks. Energy moves at up to 5,000 FE/t (or the item's own transfer limit, for Voluminous Energy items). When an item is finished, it is moved to the bottom slot (if that slot is empty).

Inventory
The "default face" is the side of the machine that automation (hoppers, pipes) uses for the slot by default, relative to the machine's front. It can be changed in the machine's IO settings.
